Canadian actor Michael Cera stars in Wes Anderson's 2025 film The Phoenician Scheme, while Jackie Chan returns in Karate Kid: Legends.

Both movies were released on the same date — Friday, May 30. And while promoting their respective films, the two actors found themselves in the same place.

The teams of both new films were at a press stop at BBC Radio 2 to promote their movies, give interviews about behind-the-scenes moments, and interact with the audience.

However, Cera bumped into the legendary action star Chan, but Chan didn’t recognise who Cera was.

A photographer at the event asked Cera if he knew Jackie Chan, and while Cera didn’t know him personally, he was curious to meet him. The photographer offered to take him to meet Chan.

“That was that,” Cera told NME. “When I met him, though, he was like, ‘Who is this person? What’s going on?’ We took a picture, but I think he thought I was a competition winner. He was like, ‘Ok, let’s do a picture real quick. Come on.’ Not rudely. But I felt like I was invading his little personal time with his team before he goes on the radio.”

Cera was sharing this incident with the media outlet just 20 minutes after meeting Chan.

“I was like, ‘What am I doing here?’” He said. “But everyone was very sweet, and I got to meet Jackie.”

What was Michael Cera's first role?

Cera's first role was an unpaid appearance in an ad for Tim Hortons restaurants when he was eight years old.

He then did a commercial for Pillsbury after a year of his first role. In 1999, Cera debuted in a TV series.
