Things are getting increasingly foggy in the Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion shooting controversy.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023 after being found guilty of gross negligence in the 2020 shooting of the singer.
Recently, a significant development occurred in the saga when it was alleged that Kelsey Harris, a former friend of Megan, was present on the night of the shooting.
On May 14, Lanez’s legal team revealed that Harris' bodyguard had testified that it was she who shot Megan.
The bodyguard claims that Harris had a gun during the incident and was intending to use it. The attorneys further alleged that the artist was never given a fair trial.
Both Megan and her lawyer dismissed the revelations as “false” and reiterated that the rapper was justly tried in the courtroom and pleaded guilty himself.
On Thursday, Lanez’s legal team launched a website that contains audio and video of the night of the incident, along with an extensive document explaining how the footage corroborates their account.
In response, Megan's attorney Alex Spiro released an official statement that claims that the latest evidence undermines Lanez’s previous narrative.
“They continue to rehash old evidence from trial and re-package it as new information to desperately sway public opinion,” Spiro said.
The lawyer labelled the defence’s latest attempt as “sad” and even called out Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna who has been campaigning for the 32-year-old's release.
Tory Lanez was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon in July 2020 following a violent argument at a house party.
Megan Thee Stallion was with the rapper that night and was reported to have injured her foot due to shattered glass.
However, Megan later took to Instagram to claim that she was intentionally shot by Tory during the altercation.
