SNL alum Kate McKinnon unexpectedly revealed a bizarre medical condition called geographic tongue.

The actor, who has been featured in this week's One Last Thing, was asked to show the last screenshot or picture she took on her phone.

"I took a photo of my tongue and sent it to an actor friend of mine," she said. "We both have the same medical condition. It’s called geographic tongue. Your tongue sheds in patches and looks like an atlas, hence the name 'geographic tongue.'"

Mayo Clinic explains that geographic tongue is an inflammatory yet harmless condition that affects the tongue’s surface. It causes smooth patches where the tiny, pinkish-white bumps called papillae are missing, giving the tongue a map-like appearance. These patches may appear in one spot and later shift to another area.

"It’s gross," McKinnon added. "We brag about how geographic we are on any given day. Maybe I shouldn’t be saying this in a magazine."

The actress is releasing her children’s book Secrets of the Purple Pearl—the second instalment in her series The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science—and also stars in the movie The Roses.
