It is the end of an era for many fans as a historic reign of one of their favourite songs has finally ended.
On May 4, 2024, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us was released, sending shockwaves across the music industry.
The diss track aimed at the rapper’s certain rival, as part of their highly publicised feud, became an instant success.
However, the Grammy-winning song is now officially out of the Billboard Hot 100 chart after 53 weeks of dominance.
During that period, Not Like Us became the longest-charting rap song ever, according to the NFR Podcast.
This adds to the many accolades of the single, which won five Grammy Awards earlier this year, including Song of the Year.
Lamar also performed it at the biggest stage in entertainment when he headlined the Super Bowl 59 halftime show.
Not Like Us is not the only K.Dot track that has been dominating the charts though, as his collaborative song with SZA, Luther, recently set a new record after topping the Hot 100 for 14 straight weeks.
The track, titled after R&B legend Luther Vandross, was released on November 29, 2024, as the third single from Lamar’s highly successful GNX album.
The song has now climbed to number 15 on the list of all-time longest-leading hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The chart dates back to 1958, meaning only 14 other tracks have managed to stay at the top for more consecutive weeks than Luther.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA are currently co-headlining the Grand National Tour, which was announced last December to further promote the 37-year-old’s Grammy-winning album, GNX.
The all-stadium tour consists of 39 performances across North America and Europe, with the first show held in Minneapolis on April 19 and the last in Stockholm on June 18.
