What would happen if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry part ways?

Meghan Markle has faced her fair share of public scrutiny since stepping away from royal duties with Prince Harry in 2020 but a royal expert now says there's one thing that could completely destroy her reputation for good.

In a recent appearance on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive, Newsweek’s Chief Royal Correspondent Jack Royston claimed that if the Duchess of Sussex were to ever split from Harry, the backlash would be brutal.

“Imagine if Meghan left Harry it would destroy her reputation. She would be eviscerated publicly,” Royston said.

Royston noted that Meghan has already been painted by critics online as controlling or narcissistic. 

“The way pop culture commentators talk about her… they lump her in with other famous women who are perceived that way,” he said.

But it’s not just Meghan who’d lose out. Royston also argued that Harry’s life in the US would fall apart without her.

“They need each other. Without Harry, she's nothing. And without her, Harry's life in America is nothing,” he said bluntly.

“It’s exactly how it was in the beginning,” Meghan told People magazine, reflecting on her creative projects. 

“He’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits… I think he loves watching as much as I love doing. It’s just been fun. This is who I’ve always been.”
