Jennifer Lopez has given nine performances as a solo artist at the American Music Awards, even hosting the event once in 2015.
She made her debut there in 1991 as a backup dancer for New Kids on the Block, having only been 21 at the time.
The AMAs stage “has been such a big part of my music journey and history,” explained the singer to USA Today.
This year, the 55 year old will be taking on dual responsibilities as the host and a performer. While opening the show, she said, “We’re going to celebrate the year in music.”
Lopez also clarified that there will indeed be dancing, “I don’t think there’s ever been a performance where I don’t dance!”
The 2025 AMAs will be aired live from Fontainebleau Las Vegas May 26 at 5 p.m. PT on CBS and will stream on Paramount+.
Among the performing artists will be Benson Boone, Blake Shelton, Gloria Estefan, Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson and Reneé Rapp. Janet Jackson will be receiving the Icon Award meanwhile Rod Stewart will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
