Kendrick Lamar continues to reap the fruits of his labour from last year.
The rapper’s collaborative song with SZA, Luther, has set a new record after topping the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 straight weeks.
The track, titled after R&B legend Luther Vandross, was released on November 29, 2024, as the third single from Lamar’s highly successful GNX album.
The song has now climbed to number 15 on the list of all-time longest-leading hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The chart dates back to 1958, meaning only 14 other tracks have managed to stay at the top for more consecutive weeks than Luther.
The record comes amid another achievement for Lamar involving Not Like Us, which was released on May 4 last year and currently sits at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
According to the NFR Podcast, the diss track now holds the distinction of being the longest-charting rap song ever.
This adds to the many accolades of Not Like Us, which won five Grammy Awards earlier this year including Song of the Year.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA are currently co-headlining the Grand National Tour, which was announced last December to further promote the 37-year-old’s Grammy-winning album, GNX.
The all-stadium tour consists of 39 performances across North America and Europe, with the first show held in Minneapolis on April 19 and the last in Stockholm on June 18.
