Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s music video of Luther got millions of views on YouTube within hours but the number’s authenticity is being questioned.

The song, titled after soul icon Luther Vandross, was released last November as the third single from Lamar’s critically acclaimed GNX album.

The music video was dropped on Friday amid the ongoing battle between the 37-year-old and his long-time rival Drake for chart supremacy, as it was released just two weeks after Drizzy’s NOKIA video was released.

Luther has been on top of the Billboard Hot 100 for twenty weeks, while NOKIA has climbed to number three and is predicted to dethrone Lamar from the number one spot.

Nevertheless, Luther remains the current king of the charts and its video keeps adding on to its viewing numbers every second.

However, Lamar is being accused of using bots to artificially inflate the view count of his latest music video.

Podcaster DJ Akademiks shared a TikTok video on social media which exposes K-Dot’s alleged unethical practices.

The video highlights the comments section of Luther on YouTube and claims that many commentators are not real humans.

The TikToker alleges that many of those accounts were created just hours after the music video was released and also compares the comments sections of Luther and NOKIA, calling it a “night and day” difference.

Lamar was accused of similar antics back in November when critics (including Drake) claimed that “K-Bot” and his label are boosting the streaming numbers of GNX.

Who was Luther Vandross?

Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr. was an R&B singer and record producer from New York. He is best known for hits like Dance with My Father and If This World Were Mine.

Vandross is widely recognised as one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2021.
