Dakota Johnson, the multi-hyphenate artist, made her first-ever appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival with her TeaTime Pictures producing partner Ro Donnelly on Monday.
Speaking at the Kering Women in Motion conversation event with the director, Dakota reveals that she is planning to make her feature film director debut with the script written by Cha Cha Real Smooth actress Vanessa Burghardt.
Dakota shares that Vanessa plays the role of her daughter in the movie, but in real life, she is an autistic actress and musician, and alongside her, Dakota is working on crafting a script.
“She’s written a script, and it’s really special, and it’s about a young woman with autism.” Dakota shared about Vanessa, “I feel very protective of her and her story in her mind, she’s just an unbelievable woman. I just don’t think I could allow anyone else to direct it. So we’ll see.”
Recently, the versatile actress produced a dark comedy movie, Splitsville, directed by Michael Angelo Covino, where Dakota also starred in the role of a woman in an open relationship.
Her role in the movie helps a male friend recover from a breakup, and the movie is set to premiere at the biggest film festival in France on Monday night.
Moreover, in her Cannes attendance, Dakota shares the reason behind finding her production company is that she wants to break the limits and desires to make more from the current film industry.
Besides, the Fifty Shades trilogy star is set to appear in Celine Song‘s Materialists, featuring a love triangle between Dakota, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans.
