The Met Gala is formally called the Costume Institute Benefit, and it is a fundraising festival which is held for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in Manhattan. It is attended by actors, musicians, influencers, models, designers and more.
The theme for the 2025 Met Gala was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, inspired by the book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity which was written by a curator.
The dress code was Tailored For You which was “purposefully designed to provide guidance and invite creative interpretation.”
The Met Gala is held on the first Monday of May, once a year, and is televised live on several platforms.
The co-chairs for the 2025 gala were made to honor this year's theme, with icons such as Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour taking on the roles.
