Sydney Sweeney pokes fun at controversy with latest move

Sydney Sweeney has once again partnered up with the brand that caused major upheaval last year over her monologue.

The Euphoria actress has appeared in her sophomore ad campaign with American Eagle, this time modeling a selection of summery jean shorts.

As is the tagline “Syd for Short: American Eagle Jean Shorts,” the focus is on the shortening of the jean length as the weather gets warmer.

In the ad, Sweeney cheekily references the controversy saying “What brand am I wearing?” before a montage of her modelling the collection plays and ends with her answering “Yeah, that one.”

The Anyone But You actress also spoke to People magazine about the new campaign noting "What's really fun about my partnership with American Eagle is that I am getting to show a very authentic side of who I am.”

Sweeney previously received a lot of backlash for the wordplay of genes on jeans, after she listed her physical traits and stated that she great jeans.

Notably, the 28-year-old called the fallout surreal and the brand as well as the actress did not apologise for the insinuation in the campaign which turned out to be their most successful one to date.
