Anna Kendrick, who played the on-screen love interest of Ben Affleck in The Accountant, was noticeably missing from the new instalment.
While most of the ensemble took on their roles again, including Ben, Addai-Robinson, Jon Bernthal and J.K. Simmsons, the 39-year-old was nowhere to be seen in the film.
The director of the action movie Gavin O’Connor broke silence to explain Anna’s absence: “That was always the intention for the second movie” as it revolves mainly around the two brothers: Christian and Brax.
He revealed that the brothers had to sort a lot of “issues” in the second part, which picks up nine years after the original came out in 2016.
The plot of the first motion picture followed an exceptional mathematician Christian Wolff, played by the 52-year-old actor, who is associated with a criminal organisation as its freelance accountant.
However, the sequel focuses primarily on a treasury officer who forcefully contacts the protagonist of the action thriller to solve a murder mystery of her boss. Christian joins hand with his alienated brother on the mission.
On the other hand, the Pitch Perfect actress has been busy this year with her upcoming project Another Simple Favor, starring alongside Blake Lively.
Although fans missed Anna in the 2025 movie, Gavin has confirmed that she will make her comeback as the lead’s love interest in The Accountant 3. Ben also admitted that he is looking forward to a threequel and is “just waiting for another great script.”
