Stunt-performing legend Tom Cruise has fans on their knees for his undeniably nuanced acting, not only in the Mission: Impossible series.
The Academy Award-nominated actor is listed top of the most expensive actors in the world, recognised for “the man who saved the film industry”, but his co-star and British actor and filmmaker, Kenneth Branagh, thinks that Tom Cruise is “underestimated” for his acting.
Kenneth Branagh praised Cruise’s career in an interview with The Times of London, saying that if Cruise ever steps back from his action-packed roles, he will "surprise those who view him as only a movie star."
Branagh added that what Cruise has achieved with Mission: Impossible and Top Gun is "unique — cinematic entertainment with a serious intent to give you a wonderful time at the movies."
He further described Cruise as "an underestimated actor, for whom a golden age of performance beckons."
Branagh also reflected on Cruise’s fondness for classic British pubs, noting that the actor is welcomed with warmth but rarely overwhelmed by attention.
Speaking about Cruise’s down-to-earth nature, Branagh shared that he often slips into a quiet corner, soaks up the atmosphere, and remains gracious when recognised by patrons.
"His laughter is infectious," Branagh said, adding that Cruise’s genuine joy for life and work naturally draws people to him.
