Prince Harry is reportedly feeling “cautiously optimistic” about the outcome of his ongoing legal battle with the UK Home Office, that could determine whether his children can safely visit their father’s homeland.

The case began back in 2020, when Harry’s taxpayer-funded security was revoked following his decision to step down as a senior working royal and relocate to California with Meghan Markle and their two children.

Now, Harry is fighting to reinstate security protections, arguing that it’s simply not safe to bring Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, to the UK under the current conditions.

During a recent appeal hearing, Harry’s legal team emphasized the severity of the situation, saying: “There is a person who is sitting behind me whose safety, whose security and whose life is at stake.”

While a ruling has yet to be revealed, a source close to Harry’s legal team told People Magazine they remain “cautiously optimistic” about the court’s decision.

Harry has made it clear over the years that he will not bring his children to the UK unless he feels they are fully protected, especially after what he describes as increased security threats due to tabloid media coverage.

In the 2023 ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial, the Duke of Sussex said: “It’s still dangerous… all it takes is one lone actor. Whether it’s a knife or acid — these are genuine concerns. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”

Have Meghan Markle and her kids visited the UK since exit?

Since their 2020 exit, Meghan has rarely returned to the UK, and Archie and Lilibet’s last visit was during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Harry, meanwhile, continues to visit the UK for court cases, funerals, and royal obligations — often travelling solo while Meghan stays back at their Montecito mansion with the kids.

Despite the legal tension, Harry has spoken fondly of their quiet life in the US.

At The New York Times DealBook Online Summit, he said: “I very much enjoy living here and bringing my kids up here… I feel as though it’s the life my mum wanted for me.”
