Drew Barrymore unveiled her adolescent struggles and how losing everything changed her perspective.
On Wednesday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, an audience member asked the 50-year-old about the most important lesson she learned.
While recalling her teenage days, she answered, “Everyone has good moments and bad moments, but when I was 13, I truly lost everything. From my own doing.”
This experience taught her a valuable lesson that has stuck with her to this day: "Always be grateful."
“The most valuable lesson I've learned is that nothing is a given. Don't take anything for granted. Don't be jaded, be appreciative and work really hard,” the 50 First Dates actress added.
The E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial child actress further explained, “I've never stopped working since I was 11 months old, which is crazy in a sense. But I love having an infallible work ethic. It's a huge part of who I am.”
Drew Barrymore's approach to life is to view challenges as opportunities. She believes that every experience, good or bad, contributes to her growth and, in the end, benefits her and others.
