MrBeast sues ex employee for stealing 'confidential' data
The YouTuber has accused a former employee of stealing trade secrets and installing ‘hidden’ cameras
MrBeast is not taking stealing the Beast Industries’ secrets lightly.
According to Polygon, the YouTuber and his company filed a lawsuit on April 4 in a North Carolina court against a former employee.
The official complaint accuses Leroy Nabors of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract.
In addition, MrBeast’s lawyers allege that Nabors spied on him by installing "hidden" cameras “throughout Beast’s offices.”
The court documents reveal that Nabors was hired as an IT specialist in 2023 and maintained the company’s IT network, including the servers that contained the “post-production content.”
The ex-employee was later shifted to the development department to work with the “special projects” team that managed “fundraising,” “content production” and “political advocacy.”
Nabors breached the company’s non-disclosure agreement after he allegedly downloaded confidential data and was consequently fired in October 2024.
The lawsuit states that the data contained “highly confidential information about business strategy, financial information, capitalization tables, financing documents, individual employee personal information, and other MrBeast intellectual property.”
Following Nabors’ firing, MrBeast undertook an internal investigation and learned that his ex-employee also installed "multiple hidden cameras" at the establishment.
The filing further states that Nabors still has access to “thousands of Beast’s most confidential files” after he transferred the content to a personal DropBox account.
The biggest YouTuber in the world and his company are seeking the “return of all Beast information improperly in his possession” along with damages.
