Beloved 'Coronation Street' legend dies aged 72
The actor's wife shares touching tribute revealing his donation to medical research
John Saint Ryan, a Coronation Street star, passes away at the age of 72.
“I and our family want to let our friends know that John had a heart attack the evening of Thursday 3rd of April,” wrote Joyce, John’s wife, on Facebook when she announced his passing.
"We were at the hospital with him and although the staff did everything they could, he did not make it out alive," Joyce continued.
She also revealed that there won’t be a funeral because the actor donated his body to support medical research.
The post further said: "We’ll plan a celebration of his amazing life later. As he has been described to me many times over the past few days, we are all fortunate to have known and loved this unique 'Gentlemen'."
Soon after, the post was flooded with condolences from the star's followers, with some saying, “Oh my heart breaks to read this. This is a difficult loss, and I’m so very sorry for his family and friends. Sincere condolences."
Another person commented, “I’m so sorry to hear this! Prayers for his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Third chimed in, “Heartbreaking news, he changed the way I look at horse and horsemanship. It was a privilege to share time with him.”
