Woody Harrelson is being honest about turning down a role for The White Lotus.
The Texan was in talks with the show’s executives to play a key role in the third season of the anthology series.
The role was ultimately played by Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell, however, the speculations persisted about the reason behind Harrelson’s refusal to join the show.
Some fans suggested that the veteran actor turned down the part because he wanted more money than other actors.
The rumour was amplified due to the fact that the producer of the show, David Bernad, had stipulated that each cast member would be paid the same amount of salary.
Harrelson was compelled to address the swirling rumours and clarified that it was not about the money.
The actor revealed to The Daily Beast that he did not appear in The White Lotus due to the scheduled shooting conflicting with a previously planned family vacation.
The True Detective star isn't too upset about not taking the role, saying, “Things must be meant to be though because I couldn’t have done as fantastic a job as Sam, who is killing it.”
Created by Mike White, The White Lotus is a dark comedy anthology series with an ensemble cast in each of its three seasons.
The HBO series has won numerous awards, including fifteen Emmys and two Golden Globes.
