Prince Harry is facing mounting pressure to “take responsibility” following the shocking racism allegations that have rocked his charity, Sentebale.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, co-founded Sentebale in 2006 alongside Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, but both announced their resignations last week after what they described as “unthinkable infighting” within the charity.

The controversy erupted following a clash between Sentebale’s board of trustees and its new chairwoman, Dr. Sophie Chandauke, who was appointed to the position in 2023.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward has now weighed in on the growing scandal, urging Prince Harry to “step up and fight for the charity,” but advising that he do so behind closed doors.

Speaking to The Sun, Seward said: “It’s a complicated story. Harry and the Prince of Lesotho have been obliged to resign because they are patrons of this charity. The charity is in trouble because the new chairperson has had altercations with the board of trustees and she’s accusing them of misogyny. She’s accusing them of racism.”

Seward added that the situation is “very personal” to Harry, and suggested that he may have been advised by his legal team to resign temporarily to avoid further entanglement in the ongoing crisis.

“Harry’s just going to have to stand up and fight for it if he can,” Seward explained.

“But he’s going to have to do it behind the scenes. He can’t do it in a public way because she might even try to sue Harry and the Prince of Lesotho.”

Seward also drew parallels between the Sentebale row and Princess Diana’s experiences with her own charitable endeavours.

“Diana was very shocked by the incidents within many of her charitable organizations,” Seward noted, implying that Harry’s late mother would have encouraged him to confront the situation rather than step back.
