Prince Harry 'overshadowed' by Meghan Markle's success, expert calls him a 'spare part'

Prince Harry has long been at the center of media scrutiny, especially after stepping down from his royal duties alongside Meghan Markle. But now, following the release of Meghan’s new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, the Duke of Sussex is once again facing harsh criticism.

In a scathing column for The Times, royal expert Shane Watson took a brutal jab at Harry’s role in Meghan’s lifestyle series, claiming that the Duke appears overshadowed by his wife’s new venture.

"Blink and you'll miss him," Watson wrote, pointing out that Harry’s brief cameo in the Netflix series makes him seem like an afterthought.

"Not only that, he's wedged at the back of the crowd of well-wishers at her signing-off party. He seems diminished, unsure of what's expected of him," he continued.

Watson then suggested that Harry—who famously labeled himself a ‘spare’ in his memoir—may now be a ‘spare’ in another sense, as Meghan takes center stage in her lifestyle empire.

"Harry is already looking like a spare part in her new incarnation as a lifestyle icon," he concluded.

While Meghan focuses on her lifestyle brand, As Ever, and her Netflix series, Prince Harry has been keeping a lower profile, dedicating himself to charitable work.

Over the weekend, he appeared solo at a fundraiser supporting victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. He also made another surprise appearance in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, where he spoke about his commitment to service.

"Before I moved (to America), so much of my life revolved around charity. Since then, while my charities remain a core part of my life’s work, I’ve also been focusing on upstream solutions and prevention, driven by decisions and investments that address problems before they require fixing,” he shared.
