Dolly Parton took to her public social media to announce the death of her husband of 60 years, Carl Dean.

“Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82.”, stated the announcement post.

The musician considered as a global icon, lived a very private life with her husband whom she met long before she rose to fame. The couple met when Parton was 18 and Dean was 21, getting married two years later in a private ceremony and since have lived a married life away from public eyes.

The country singer shared that their romance began at the Wishy Washy laundromat when she first arrived in Nashville. In a rare 2016 interview, Dean recalled meeting the then-teenager Dolly saying “My first thought was 'I'm gonna marry that girl.'”.

The Jolene singer and her husband, from whom she was inspired to write the hit song, never had children. In an interview, she opened up about their decision to not have kids saying "Since I had no kids, and my husband was pretty independent, I had freedom".
