Adam Sandler shocked Conan O’Brien during his opening speech at the Academy Awards.
The Happy Gilmore star wasn’t a contender for the Oscars this year. Yet, this didn’t stop him from becoming an unforgettable part of the show.
After Conan discussed how important it was to look formal, "for such a prestigious night, it's important that everyone is properly dressed," the host turned to Sandler, age who looked the complete opposite.
“Adam, what are you wearing?” O’Brien asked the Saturday Night Live star, who could be spotted wearing basketball shots and a blue Aviator Nation sweatshirt. “You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m.”
The beloved actor and comedian playfully clapped back, “Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up!”
He then went on with the bit saying, “I like the way I look. Because I’m a good person. I don’t care about what I wear and what I don’t wear. My snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front my peers?”
The Grown Ups alum then humorously threatened to leave the event, but not before meeting Timothee Chalamet, A Complete Unknown star nominated for the Best Actor award that night.
Sandler made his way to the front row of the Academy Awards to root for the yellow suited star, while yelling “Chalamet!” with his typical growl.
The Dune actor was all smiles as he embraced Sandler, who had also managed to bring out laughs from the crowd.
