Harrison Ford withdrew from presenting at the Oscars the eleventh hour.
Revealing the reason to step back from the job, the Blade Runner star disclosed on Saturday, March 1, that he was diagnosed with shingles.
According to the UK government departments, National Health Service (NHS), shingles is an infection that causes a painful rash.
Shortly after the unfortunate diagnosis, Entertainment Weekly reported that the 82-year-old actor is resting and doing alright.
The star was last seen smiling and posing with his co-star, Wendie Malick at the SAG Awards, which took place on February 23.
He was nominated in the Male Actor in a Comedy Series category for his performance in Shrinking.
At the event, the legendary actor, in conversation with People, expressed his satisfaction at the fans' reception to the series.
For the unversed, Ford was announced as an Oscar presenter this Wednesday. As a result the fans were left devastated with the recent update.
“Oh no, that's terrible,” one fan exclaimed.
Another sent him warm wishes for quick recovery, writing, “Sadly he is 83, things like this happen. He's very resilient to still be working. Best wishes for his health and recovery.”
“That can be bad news to get shingles at his age,” a third added. While a fourth weighed in, saying, “This is so sad because POOR Harrison!!!!”
Though Ford can’t make it to the prestigious award ceremony, the show must go on with the other presenters announced. Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Zoe Saldaña, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield and Dave Bautista are among others set to take the stage for presenting.
The Oscars are scheduled to go live Sunday with a star-studded audience, and Conan O'Brien as host.
