Mystery Surrounding Gene Hackman’s death: 'Suspicious'

Hollywood legend Gene Hackman, 95, was found dead along with his wife in their $3.8 million New Mexico home on February 26. Along with the deceased bodies, one of their dogs was found dead as well.

Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Denise Avila stated that the officials found the couple during a welfare check around 1:45pm local time.

Although it was initially reported that no foul play was involved, it was later said by the police that the circumstances are “suspicious enough”, therefore, a further investigation will be carried out.

The Oscar-winning actor was found in a mudroom while his wife was discovered in the bathroom next to a heater.

It was reported that the 63-year-old’s body was surrounded by scattered prescription pills.

The late couple did not show any signs of trauma externally, however, post-mortem and toxicology reports are still pending.

Elizabeth Jean Hackman, the iconic actor's daughter from his first wife Faye Maltese, suggested that her late father and step-mother might have died due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
