Prince William’s role in UK-US relations is becoming increasingly significant, especially with Donald Trump back in the White House.
The Prince of Wales has been labeled a “secret weapon” due to his close ties with the US president and his ability to act as a diplomatic bridge between the two nations.
According to royal sources, William is “happy to play his role and support where needed.” Following Trump’s inauguration last month, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer spoke to the president, while William held a private meeting with him at Kensington Palace.
A White House insider told The Telegraph that the prince’s growing relationship with Trump is “key” and that William holds “really powerful, really important influence” as the UK and US navigate a crucial political landscape.
“The biggest thing right now is making sure the relationship between the US and UK doesn’t go off track and we try to repair some of the damage. That is where I think the King and Prince William can really help,” the source explained.
Meanwhile, a Palace insider emphasized that William fully understands his role in diplomatic affairs: “It’s important that we’re not involved in day-to-day politics, but when there’s an ask for support from His Majesty’s government, the Prince is happy to play his role.”
Another source told the publication: “The President looks to the King, and now William, for things that are going on in the UK.”
