A Simple Favor starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick will be returning with a sequel following the release of the former in 2018.
Receiving critical acclaim for the acting and storyline, director Paul Feig had claimed, "Our movie is all about appearances being not what they seem and so we loved the idea of playing with the concept of 'It's not what you think.'”
Called Another Simple Favor, the world premiere will take place on 7 March at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival.
According to the synopsis, it will see the "return of Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) as they head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman."
It continues, “Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.”
Along with Kendrick and Lively, Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho and Kelly McCormack will also be joining the flick.
The script will be written by Jessica Sharzer, who also worked on the previous film.
Paul Feig will also be directing the sequel, and he recently defended Lively amidst her battle with Justin Baldoni and the rumours that she had forced her creative vision on A Simple Favor.
“It’s my cut. There is no other cut. Blake has been nothing but supportive and a dream to work with. She is the best and an amazing collaborator and I’m her biggest fan,” he said.
Coming from Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate, it will not be available in theatres and will directly stream from 1 May.
