Prince William is shedding light on the challenges of coping with grief, sharing his personal experiences during a visit to Child Bereavement UK in Widnes.

As part of his royal engagement, the Prince of Wales visited Child Bereavement UK, a charity dedicated to helping young people up to age 25 cope with loss. The organization also provides training for professionals who work with grieving families.

During his visit, Prince William met with families and children, offering insight into his own grief journey following the tragic passing of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, when he was just 15 years old.

"Sometimes the hardest thing about grief is finding the words for how you actually feel. It's crucial for those first few years, particularly, that you have support like this…. It helps you figure out how to help yourself," he shared.

He also spoke about the impact of grief on daily life: "The mind gets focused on one thing, doesn’t it? It’s very difficult to do school and normal life."

While speaking to 17-year-old Rebecca, a young person receiving support from the center, he asked: "Did you find it quite hard at the beginning to talk about how you felt?"

Rebecca responded candidly: "I didn’t really know how I felt because it was very sudden. Child Bereavement UK helped me direct the way I felt about it."

After her meeting with Prince William, Rebecca spoke about her interaction with him, saying: "He knows exactly the situation we've been in. He's been in the same situation, around our age as well. I feel like it was good because he really understood."
