Lee Joo Sil, a veteran Korean actress, has tragically passed away at the age of 80 due to stomach cancer.
Her last moments were spent receiving treatment on 2 February. Her funeral is set to be held at Shinchon Severance Hospital and visitation will be allowed from 3 February.
The final service will be taking place on 5 February.
She had revealed last year on Special World by MBN that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and the prognosis did not give her much time to live.
Although she had fought against the disease for over a decade and was even rid of it at one point, a recent examination had revealed its return.
Fans can recognize the actress most recently from her role in the second season of the hit Netflix series, Squid Game.
She played the role of Park Mal Soon, mother to the detective Hwang Jun Ho and step-mother to the Frontman, Hwang In Ho.
The star originally began her acting career back in 1964, going on to gain recognition for her voice acting as well as her on-screen performances. After starting off with a voice acting class, she later switched to film and television.
