Member of Parliament Penny Mordaunt received a once-in-a-lifetime honor at King Charles III's coronation.
The Conservative MP has become the first woman in history to present the monarch with a glittering Jewelled Sword of Offering.
The 50-year-old politician redeemed the sword for the bag of silver-colored coins - one hundred newly-minted 50p pieces, at the altar in Westminster Abbey.
The priceless artifact was blessed by the Archbishop of Canterbury before being carried to the King.
The new monarch clipped the regalia to the golden belt also known as the girdle around his waist, before unclipping it with the help of the staff and offering it to the Dean of Westminster.
Mordaunt’s service didn’t end there, as she went on to exchange it for the redemption money and carried it in its “naked form” before the monarch for the rest of the service.
This is not the first time Penny Mordaunt has been granted the honor to take part in the royal services.
As the Lord President of the Privy Council and Leader of the House Commons, the MP also oversaw the Accession Council after the death of Queen Elizabeth II back in September.
