Princess Anne is not having any of King Charles’ attempts to slim down the monarchy.

The 72-year-old royal said down for an interview with Canada’s CBC News and discussed the pruning of the number of working royals in the family.

“Well, I think the 'slimmed down' was said in a day when there were a few more people around,” she told interviewer Adrienne Arsenault, alluding to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s secession from their duties as well as Prince Andrew’s lack of titles.

“It doesn't sound like a good idea from where I'm standing, I would say. I'm not quite sure what else we can do,” the Princess Royal lamented.

The Princess’ concern comes after her brother Charles suggested having fewer working members of the Royal Family in an attempt to create a “slimmed down,” tight-knit, and cheaper institution.

As for the role of monarchy in the modern world, Anne defended the institution, saying, it “provides a degree of long-term stability that is actually quite hard to come by in any other way.”

“[It also] provides an element of a focus to that level of service and encourages that in the long term,” she insisted. "It's not a short-term thing. You're there for the long term."
