Days before Grimes quit her record label, Elon Musk's ex-girlfriend informed musicians that they can utilise her voice in AI-generated songs in exchange for a fair part of the profits.

Following an AI hit of a song played in the voices of Drake and The Weeknd, the 35-year-old Canadian singer on Sunday granted her fans the ability to use her music 'without punishment' in exchange for a 50% profit.

Nothing was off-limits, according to Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, and who claimed that her "ultimate goal has always been to push boundaries rather than have a nice song."

Grimes is open to the potential of artificial intelligence, but Billboard reports that she is unsure about her next moves after an unexpected breakup with Columbia Records.

The Shinigami Eyes vocalist seemed enthusiastic about what the future holds for us in terms of AI possibilities.

Even though copyright may be a problem in the AI world, Grimes informed artists informally that they wouldn't face consequences for playing with her voice.

"I think it's cool to be fused w a machine and I like the idea of open sourcing all art and killing copyright," she wrote.

Grimes highlighted the unpredictability of AI and the recent boundary-crossing of technology in the music industry.

"The point is to poke holes in the simulation and see what happens even if it's a bad outcome for us," she added.

While initially asserting that nothing was off-limits, Grimes later suggested that copyright would be a problem if her music was utilised for 'toxic' causes.

"Ok hate this part but we may do copyright takedowns ONLY for rly rly toxic lyrics w grimes voice," she wrote.

"Like no baby murder songs plz," she wrote.

The performer noted that she dislikes adding more regulations but also prefers to steer clear of political subjects.

A popular song with fake Drake and The Weeknd vocals gave Grimes the idea to investigate AI creation.

According to TMZ, the music, called Heart on My Sleeve, "was created with nothing but the use of AI programming" and has received a lot of play on TikTok and Twitter.
