'I’m not a model': Selena Gomez silences body shaming trolls

Selena Gomez has addressed talks of her gaining weight as she reminded critics that she is "not a model".

In a TikTok live, the singer sat down to address recent criticism of her appearance, where she notably looks larger, and said that the medicine she uses to control her condition caused her to experience drastic fluctuations in weight.

"When I’m taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight," she said.

"I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and no one knows the real story."

The Lose You To Love Me hit-maker added that the criticism affects her mental health but has remained laser-focused on keeping herself healthy adding that she is "not a model" and "will never be".

"I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful," she said. 

"Yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s–t, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.

"I love you guys and thanks for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, because honestly I don’t believe in shaming people for their body or anything."

Selena Gomez Lays Bare Her Struggles With Lupus 

Selena was first diagnosed with lupus in 2014.

It is an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain, swelling and fatigue.

She addressed her struggles in her documentary My Mind & Me and emotionally revealed that she was in debilitating pain.

"Now it just hurts. Like, in the morning when I wake up, I immediately start crying because it hurts, everything," Selena tearfully said.

Due to her condition, she underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 with her friend Francia Raisa being her donor.
