Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, victim’s families slam Netflix series

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story did not please the families of the victims.

Although true-crime TV viewers seem to have insatiable taste, the victims have had enough. The relative of Jeffrey Dahmer victim Errol Lindsey, Eric Perry, expressed his displeasure with the new Netflix series "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story," which stars Evan Peters as the notorious serial murderer, on Twitter.

“I’m not telling anyone what to watch, I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you’re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell’s) are pissed about this show,” he wrote.

“Recreating my cousin having an emotional breakdown in court in the face of the man who tortured and murdered her brother is WILD.”

Perry added that producers of true crime shows are not compelled to inform the families of the victims they represent because the killings are public records. Nobody from "Monster" contacted Perry's family, according to Perry, and they learned about the show at the same time as everyone else.

“So when they say they’re doing this ‘with respect to the victims’ or ‘honoring the dignity of the families,’ no one contacts them,” he wrote.

“My cousins wake up every few months at this point with a bunch of calls and messages and they know there’s another Dahmer show. It’s cruel.”

The show's production crew has defended the initiative, claiming that the intention was never to humanize Dahmer but rather to depict the victims' points of view and illuminate how race and sexual orientation affected the murders.
