The memorable trip of Princess Diana and Prince Charles to White House in 1985 had many iconic moments. One of which is, Princess’ dance with Hollywood actor John Travolta at the White House dinner.
However, recently, the People magazine reports said that the Princess of Wales actually hit the floor with a number of famous celebrities.
The former White House photographer Pete Souza has shared some of the iconic moments of Princess Diana dancing with singer Neil Diamond.
Sharing the memories of the evening on Instagram, Souza said that he remembered that she was "visibly blushing" during the dance.
“After posting my photograph of Diana and John Travolta yesterday, many of you had asked to see a picture of her dancing with Neil Diamond. Accompanied by the military band, Neil sang a few of his songs. I distinctly remember him singing, You Don’t Bring Me Flowers. My recollection–and I can’t be sure this is correct–is that he continued singing this song as he danced with her.”
“The one rock-solid remembrance I have is that Diana was visibly blushing when she danced with Neil. In the photograph, you can see that her cheeks are a bit red but in the moment it was even more obvious,” he added.
Travolta recently looked back at dancing with Diana for Esquire Mexico and recalled the moment was no less than a fairytale.
Souza then shared another post with a bunch of pictures in which, lady Di can be seen dancing with various celebrities including, President Ronald Reagan, Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Joan Collins, and David Hockney.
He wrote in the caption, “Seems like some of you have been fascinated with my last couple of posts from this night. All because the former White House photo editor during the Reagan administration happened to text me that John Travolta had just done an interview about this night and the Today Show had broadcast a couple of my photos.”
He added, “For this final post from that night, I’ve spliced together some other pictures from the proof sheets from that night. I don’t have individual scans of these images; I downloaded the proof sheets from the National Archives and have pieced together individual photos.”
“Note that the blue circle marks on the proof sheets indicate ones that we made prints of and sent to those pictured. Also note that the First Lady’s photographer, Mary Anne Fackelman, was also at the dinner and photographed that night as well. By the way, Mary Anne was the first female official White House photographer in history. She began her stint during the Carter administration and also worked throughout the eight years of the Reagan administration,” he concluded.
“Seems like some of you have been fascinated with my last couple of posts from this night.”“A few little known facts from that night: Diana also danced that night with President Reagan, Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood and Neil Diamond. She did not dance with Prince Charles,” Souza said.
He then shared a collection of photos of Diana dancing with President Ronald Reagan, Clint Eastwood and Tom Selleck.
