British actor Laurence Fox to contest election for London Mayor in May

British actor Laurence Fox, best known for playing the supporting role of DS James Hathaway in the TV drama series Lewis, has announced to contest elections for London mayor in May.

In a statement, Laurence Fox said he would lift the lockdown the day after the elections are held on May 6, 2021.

Fox is also the leader of Reclaim Party.

According to reports, the actor confirmed his decision to contest the election after Rishi Sunak, who has been the Chancellor of the Exchequer since February 2020, announced in the budget that the government had borrowed £407bn to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement further reads ‘Every week that goes by without lifting lockdown means more lost jobs, more lost businesses and even more taxes in the future’.
