Billie Eilish leaves fans stunned with new bold makeover

Billie Eilish has stunned fans after appearing almost unrecognisable while filming her big-screen debut in The Bell Jar in Toronto.

The 24-year-old Grammy-winning singer has officially stepped into the role of Esther Greenwood in director Sarah Polley's adaptation of Sylvia Plath's iconic novel. 

Fresh images from the set show Billie swapping her signature edgy style for a vintage-inspired look.

She was seen wearing a patterned yellow dress paired with black boots and an oversized green fleece to keep warm between takes. 

The songstress was also spotted in a loose light blue button-up shirt while filming scenes around the Canadian city.

Joining Billie on set is Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan, who plays Esther's mother. 

Mulligan's casting was confirmed only last week, adding even more star power to the highly anticipated project.

The role marks a major career milestone for lovely singer, who is making her first appearance in a feature film. 

The story follows 19-year-old Esther Greenwood, a gifted Boston student whose glamorous internship in 1950s New York is overshadowed by a devastating struggle with depression, eventually leading to a suicide attempt and psychiatric treatment.

The role has drawn attention because CHIHIRO hitmaker has spoken candidly over the years about her own experiences with depression, anxiety and self-harm.

Thus, making the emotionally complex character particularly significant for the singer.

The Bell Jar will be Sarah Polley's fifth feature as director, following the critically acclaimed Women Talking. 

Reports have also linked Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie to the cast, although his involvement has yet to be officially confirmed.
