Tom Holland might have an amazing fan following across the globe but Norway striker Erling Haaland had no idea who he was.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote The Odyssey, the English actor revealed an amusing ghosting story with Norwegian football star.
Holland admitted that he sent DM request to Haaland to hang out over dinner but the football star ignored him completely.
However, the Spider-Man actor took it in good humour, saying, “That is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors”.
“You're like, I'll text him, I'll take him to dinner. Not even a response… Not an excuse, not 'I'm busy tonight, I'm playing football'. Nada,” he told Fallon.
Holland opened up that he first spotted Haaland at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix at the start of June and felt inspired to contact him.
“I was watching Lewis [Hamilton] race, and I saw him,” continued the Uncharted actor.
Holland recalled, “He was [in] like a hospitality suite across from me, and I just thought I’d shoot my shot. Send him a text.”
Later, on the Tonight Show, The Impossible actor added, “I never imagined I would talk about it on live television, but here we are.”
Despite Haaland’s snubbing, Holland spoke highly of the football star on the show, proving he had no hard feelings for the Norway footballer.
“He’s an absolute legend,” said the Avengers: Endgame actor.
