Jack Downham is set to leave Emmerdale after playing Noah Dingle for 17 years.
The 24-year-old actor joined the ITV soap in 2009 at just six years old and has grown up on screen as Charity Dingle's son. His final scenes have already been filmed and are expected to air later this year.
According to reports Downham was informed of the decision last month, with his departure marking another cast exit for the long-running soap.
A source claimed the news came as a surprise to many members of the cast and crew describing Downham as a popular figure behind the scenes after spending most of his life on the show.
Despite leaving Emmerdale those close to the actor reportedly say he is optimistic about the future and is looking forward to exploring new opportunities.
Reports have also suggested producers are planning a major stunt later this year that could lead to additional cast departures although ITV has not commented on the speculation.
An ITV spokesperson declined to comment on Downham's reported exit.
