Dwayne Johnson has dropped a major Disney bombshell by confirming that Moana 3 is officially in the works but fans will have to wait a little longer before setting sail on the next animated adventure.
The 54-year-old Hollywood superstar, who voices the much-loved demigod Maui, revealed the exciting news while promoting the upcoming live-action Moana during a press conference in Brazil.
"Yes, we have talked about Moana 3," Dwayne confirmed.
"But first, live-action *Moana*, we'll let that come out first."
He also revealed that returning writers Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller are expected to pen the third animated film.
While reports suggest Auli'i Cravalho will once again voice Moana, despite newcomer Catherine Laga'aia taking on the role in the live-action remake.
While Disney has yet to reveal who will write the songs for the next animated instalment, anticipation is already building after the success of the first two films.
Away from the big announcement, The Smashing Machine actor admitted his own daughters had a hilarious reaction when they first saw him transformed into Maui for the live-action movie.
"The first time they saw me as Maui, they were like, 'Oh,'" he laughed.
"It was jarring for them for maybe 10 minutes. Just to see me with hair. It's a lot of hair – long, beautiful, luscious."
The former WWE champion, who shares daughters Jasmine and Tiana with wife Lauren Hashian and eldest daughter Simone with ex-wife Dany Garcia, said meeting young Moana fans remains one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
"They'll say, 'That's not Maui,'" he joked. "So I show them my tattoos and tell them I shaved my head."
Zootopia 2 star also admitted filming the live-action musical proved far more demanding than voice acting.
