Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have been going strong with their loved-up appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
When the New York Times reported that the former prime minister of Canada opted to watch Team USA, the politician clarified his position.
The 54-year-old turned to X and shared that the appearance was one of those “supportive boyfriend duties.”
He added: “But you know who I’m rooting for to take the Cup,” adding Canadian flag emoji to the update.
Justin was previously called out for not showing support to his hometown team after starting his romantic journey with the Roar crooner.
However, the recent statement left fans divided with few appreciating him. One of the X users noted that he has “spoken like a true supportive partner.”
Another netizen slammed him for mentioning his relationship status, writing: “Boyfriend… how long are you going to keep up this charade?”
Meanwhile, a third admirer defended him: “Yall need to chill out. He is a grown man and can make his own decisions.”
This came after his flame Katy headlined the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup, performing in a shimmery dress.
Previously, the singer and the politician debuted at the premiere of her tour documentary, becoming the talk of town at the photocall.
