Ol Parker jokes daughter Nico gives him 'no respect' on film sets

Filmmaker Ol Parker has admitted he’s “amazed” watching his daughter Nico Parker carve out a seriously hot acting career in Hollywood.

He’s even joking that he might just end up as “the nepo dad” if they ever work together.

Speaking at the world premiere of his new rom-com Office Romance in Los Angeles, the 57-year-old director couldn’t hide his pride as he reacted to 21-year-old Nico’s growing list of major roles, including The Last of Us and the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon sequel.

“It’s a thing, isn’t it?” he laughed, when told how fast she’s been rising in the industry. 

“She’s killing it. We’d love to work together, genuinely… but it’s more me trying to persuade her!”

Ol joked that on set he’d probably be the one getting no respect at all. 

“She’d completely disrespect me and I’d have to say, ‘You can’t talk to me like that!’” he said, adding that she already gives him blunt feedback on her self-tapes, telling him: “‘Crap. No.’”

Nico, who he shares with actress Thandiwe Newton, isn’t the only family member keeping him on his toes, but Ol said the dynamic is all love, even if she has “no respect” for his directing notes.

The director also opened up about working on Office Romance, starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, calling Lopez the “queen” of romantic comedies. 

He even recalled her improvising a laugh over the phone that ended up in the final cut.
