Jennifer Lopez makes rare confession about Madonna

Jennifer Lopez spoke about Madonna’s impact on her, describing herself as a big fan of the music icon in her latest appearance.

On Track Star, the 56-year-old singer and actress reflected on her early admiration for Madonna while being quizzed on the hit track Ray of Light.

She said, "This is Madonna! When I was little, I wanted to be like her," she said. "That's why I started coming to the village. I wanted to dress like her."

She added that she would often "cut up" her clothes to emulate the star’s signature style. "I always said to myself, I never want to get stuck. I always wanted to keep evolving. I always wanna keep doing new things," she said.

Additionally, the pop icon was also tested on songs by Janet Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa and Selena Quintanilla, whom she famously portrayed in the 1997 biopic Selena.

"Obviously, an important person that you have a connection to," the host said.

The Grammy winning artist replied, "Obviously, I played Selena in the movie. That was kind of the set-off to my career, and people are like, 'You can't go into singing.' And I was like, 'No.'" 

She went on, "You have to seize the moment. You have one life, and the fact that she died so young... it fueled a fire in me to like, 'F--- it. Go for it. Do whatever you want in this life.' Do what you want to do now." 

Notably, Lopez is currently promoting her Netflix film Office Romance, where she stars opposite Brett Goldstein.
