Owain Rhys Davies has died suddenly at the age of 44, leaving friends, family and fellow stars devastated by the loss of the much-loved Welsh actor.
Best known for playing Agent Wilson in the cult TV series Twin Peaks, Owain also appeared in films including Alice Through the Looking Glass, A Serial Killer's Guide to Life and the audio drama Impact Winter.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his brother Rhodri, who shared an emotional statement on behalf of the family.
“It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,” he said.
While revealing there are still unanswered questions surrounding the tragedy, Rhodri explained the family’s current understanding is that Owain died “suddenly, naturally, and peacefully”.
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment world, painting a picture of a man whose warmth and generosity touched countless lives.
Joanne Froggatt described him as “joy and life and talent and kindness”, admitting she was devastated by the loss of a friend she considered family.
Former Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon called the news “heartbreaking”, saying Owain “lit up every room he went into” and left behind treasured memories.
Meanwhile, writer and actor Humphrey Ker remembered him as “a gentleman and a wally and a talent and a giver and maker of joy”.
Away from the screen, he also enjoyed a successful stage career, appearing in West End productions of Mamma Mia! and The Wizard of Oz.
His most recent film project was indie feature La Fantasia.
