Martin Short’s daughter death: new report discloses shocking details

Martin Short is mourning the death of his daughter Katherine Hartley Short, as new reporting sheds light on her final hours.

According to a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report, the comedian reportedly asked a friend to check on Katherine after he had not heard from her for more than 24 hours. The friend then requested a welfare check at her home.

The report states the friend saw a note on the bedroom door and called emergency services, leading police to enter the residence and discover Katherine inside the room, a sequence of events later reported by TMZ as part of a welfare check.

Additionally, a weapon was found nearby as authorities pointed to her troubled mental health past and a suicide attempt she had made in 2017.

At the time of her death, a representative for Short confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” adding,

“The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Meanwhile, Short later addressed the tragedy during a CBS Sunday Morning interview, calling it a “nightmare” for his family.

He also spoke about mental health, comparing it to other serious illnesses, and said his daughter “did the best she could until she couldn’t.”
