Matthew Perry’s death investigation is in its final stages, and one of the defendants has received their sentence.
The Friends star passed away of a drug overdose and one of the key informants in the case, Erik Fleming is set to serve two years of jail time.
“It’s truly a nightmare I can’t wake up from, I’m haunted by the mistakes I made," the 56-year-old who is a licensed drug addiction counselor said at a podium before receiving the sentence.
Fleming was one of the five defendants that plead guilty in prosecutions over the actor’s 2023 death, which occurred in a Jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home.
The drug counselor also lead to the charge of the ketamine dealer Jasveen Sangha dubbed the ‘Ketamine Queen,’ from whom he sourced the surgical anesthetic drug.
Fleming has a $200 penalty placed on him and has to go through three years of supervised release as well.
The defendant stated in the past that he was overwhelmed with grief and shame when he found out that Perry had passed away.
Notably, he also admitted to procuring ketamine for the actor because he wanted money and thought he was doing a favour for a friend, and also apologised for his actions.
