Vin Diesel broke down in tears at Cannes while paying tribute to Paul Walker during a 25th anniversary Fast & Furious screening.
He was accompanied by Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez, but attention soon turned to Diesel’s emotional tribute to his late co-star Paul Walker and Walker’s daughter Meadow, who was present.
With tears in his eyes, he told the crowd, “The person who was not going to let me come alone here to represent that brotherhood was Meadow Walker,” prompting applause across the theatre. “I’m gonna go and shed a tear real quick.”
He continued, “The only reason why we’re making the finale for Fast for 2028… It’s because of each and every one of you that has given us your hearts and your loyalty,” referring to Fast Forever.
“Each and every one of you that has felt like you are a part of our family. You make us have to continue. You make us want to make you all proud.”
Before the screening, he described the 2001 original as “the beginning of one word… and that word is love.”
For the unfamiliar, the upcoming installment in the Fast franchise, Fast Forever, is slated to release in cinemas on March 17, 2028.
