Cher’s bitter family battle has exploded once again after shocking new court filings claimed she stopped financially supporting her troubled son nearly five years ago.
The 79-year-old music legend is back at the centre of a deeply personal legal war involving son Elijah Blue Allman, who is battling addiction and mental health struggles while facing mounting financial pressure.
According to explosive documents filed in Los Angeles and obtained by People, he claims his money troubles began when mum allegedly cut off the “recurring financial assistance” she had been providing him in August 2021.
The filing comes as he fights to slash the spousal support he pays estranged wife Marieangela King.
Court papers reveal he is currently ordered to hand over £6,500 a month despite allegedly earning far less than before.
Elijah reportedly told the court he now survives mainly on £10,000 a month from his late father Gregg Allman’s trust, leaving him with just £6,790 after taxes.
His legal team is now pleading for the payments to be cut dramatically to £1,651 a month.
The former couple’s chaotic romance has long made headlines, with public rows and repeated concerns over Elijah’s wellbeing overshadowing their marriage since they tied the knot in 2013.
But the financial drama is only part of the turmoil engulfing the famous family.
The songstress has also continued her controversial attempts to place Elijah under a conservatorship, arguing his addiction and mental health issues have spiralled.
Last month, a judge denied her latest request without prejudice, meaning the Believe singer can try again.
During the hearing, he reportedly appeared remotely from a psychiatric hospital while facing criminal cases in New Hampshire, with Cher’s lawyers insisting his condition has “significantly deteriorated” in recent months.
