Beyonce was not made part of The New York Times critics’ Greatest Living American Songwriters’ list which had other artists.
During an interview, the critics were given a chance to explain why did the Diva hitmaker not make it to the list.
Reading a comment by Craig, who asked if her “style of collaborative songwriting” resulted her in missing out, Wesley Morris gushed: “Those old idea are buried here.”
However, Joe Coscarelli explained the difference between her and Kanye West as he credited the Grammy winner for being an excellent “curator and an executive producer.”
He appreciated her demos, stating: “She is Frank Sinatra plus Quincy Jones.” However, the rapper was mentioned for using “ghost producers, writers.”
According to the panellist, the I Wonder crooner is “the magician who can put all the stuff together,” putting all together after recording with “Justin Vernon… Chief Keef… a Mike Dean guitar solo.”
He crowned Ye as “a modern day composer” for his projects.
There are several celebrities who were listed as the top living songwriters, including Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and others.
This came after Beyonce made the headlines with her stunning appearance at the Met Gala 2026. Many fans are now demanding that the singer needs to release another part of trilogy.
