Kevin McKidd has landed his first TV job since his departure from Grey's Anatomy, in the new ITV thriller The Only Suspect.

The 52-year-old, who portrayed Dr. Owen Hunt on the award-winning medical drama series, revealed his exit last month.

This marked the veteran star's 17 years of directorship and acting on the surgical drama as well.

McKidd will now play Alex, a loving husband whose seemingly perfect marriage has a terrible secret.

Red Planet Pictures is producing the four-part thriller, which moves between the present day and mid-1990s Camden during the heyday of Cool Britannia.

The plot reads, “30 years later, another heatwave grips a very different world. The abandoned railway track where the body was hidden, running behind Alex and Beth’s street, is being transformed into a nature trail, spearheaded by Beth herself."

Continuing, "What is a triumph for the neighbourhood instead threatens catastrophe for Alex. Because Alex is the young man who buried the body.”

McKidd, who starred in Trainspotting, noted his feelings about the new project as "a coming home."

Moreover, he shared, “As an actor, the complex and multilayered role of Alex is exciting to explore."

"I can’t wait to collaborate with Farren, the whole team at Red Planet Pictures and an amazing ensemble of great British actors,” he punched.

The ITV Series will start shooting in London this spring.
