Mel B slams past TV culture after pregnancy weigh-in shock

Mel B has lifted the lid on a jaw-dropping moment from her early fame, revealing she was once asked to step on the scales live on TV while pregnant.

The Mel B star, now 50, didn’t hold back as she branded the incident “horrifying”, insisting such behaviour would never fly today. 

Speaking candidly at a recent event, the mum-of-three recalled being just 23 and expecting her first child when the shocking request came during a live interview.

“I remember the host asking, ‘Can I weigh you?’” she said. 

“I didn’t care — I had a baby growing inside me.” 

Still, she admitted the moment wouldn’t sit right in today’s more aware climate.

Rising to fame alongside Spice Girls bandmates Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm, Mel insists the group powered through sexism together and loved every minute of their global domination.

Despite the awkward encounter, she looks back on her Spice Girls days with nothing but joy. 

“It was never a drag,” she said. 

“We supported each other through everything.”

Now a proud mum to Phoenix, Angel and Madison, Mel continues to use her voice to champion women, from embracing natural beauty to speaking out against abuse.

And while fans are desperate for a reunion, Mel admits it’s still just a dream. 

“In a perfect world, we’d already be on tour,” she teased. 

“I’d love it… but it isn’t happening.”
